   Looking to expand upon their Signature and European cut offerings, the French Cut looks to offer the sound and response synonymous with certain French style reeds. Maintaining the instant response of the 'Signature' range reeds, the added body mass offers more resistance, providing evenness of tone and control, as well as a warmer, more natural sound than has previously been available. The flexibility and tone these reeds provides will appeal to both Classical and Jazz style musicians alike!

  The French Cut is an expansion of Légère’s flagship reed series. Using the same advanced material technology featured in our Signature, European, and American Cut reeds, the French Cut now gives players new choices to optimise their tone, resistance, and sound.

  A DARKER, DEEPER TONE

  The French Cut’s revamped profile emphasises an even material distribution but retains a thin tip, providing artists with the ideal mix of quick response and subtle resistance. This design produces a sound that's rich and resonant, all while catering to the orchestral performer.

  The new cut features a dark tone, specifically designed to offer a deep and centred sound, allowing for a wide range of sonic expression. Unlike other cuts, the French Cut intentionally suppresses high-frequency overtones, delivering an intense body and depth in its sound.

About Légère
Established in 1998, Guy Légère and Mark Kortschot joined forces to produce high quality synthetic woodwind reeds. Based in Toronto-Canada, Légère Reeds use state of the art computer controlled machinery and produce precision cut reeds with a worldwide distribution. Guy Légère combined his background in Chemistry (as well being an amateur clarinettist) together with Mark Kortschot’s background in Chemical engineering and applied chemistry to produce reeds from a special polymer compound.
