The B40 Lyre Profile 88 Bb Clarinet mouthpiece from Vandoren is a variation on the popular B40 mouthpiece. The main differences being the slightly smaller tip opening longer facing length and with this model the profile 88 beak. These contribute to creating a mouthpiece that works especially well in the upper register, perfectly blending sound production and tonal colour as well as creating a comfortable streamlined mouthpiece which has many options for positioning and air flow.
With this added comfort feature, a varied dynamic range is easier to achieve. This mouthpiece plays with great response across the entire range with design focus to achieving an effortless upper register. Suitable for both solo and ensemble settings, the B40 Lyre profile 88 model is flexible to suit your playing needs.
Just like the B40, the B40 Lyre model feels robust to play, whilst still retaining a rich, velvety, commanding tone. This model is recommended to be played with softer reeds in order to create a good quality sound (see Vandoren’s reed recommendations below).

1. On arrival, every Clarinet & Flute is checked & adjusted in-store. This is essential as every instrument requires some attention after its long journey from the factory.
2. Once sold, every Clarinet & Flute is checked & regulated for a second time as the set-up can be affected by the new materials expanding & contracting according to environmental conditions.
3. New instruments purchased from us can be returned within a year for a FREE check over and adjustment.
