Yamaha YCL-450M Bb clarinet

The Yamaha YCL-450M Bb clarinet is constructed from grenadilla wood. The special part of this clarinet is that the top joint is drilled out slightly larger around the bore and the tone holes allowing thermoplastic ABS resin to be injected into the cavity forming the inner shape of the clarinet. This forms a protective layer against the wooden material whilst retaining around 90 % of the original wood of the clarinet. This ensures the sound quality is comparable to the traditional 450 model, but gives the security of a resin clarinet when in variable climates and humidity's. This instrument will be especially good for musicians who play outside or travel on regular occasions.

The 450M model includes a new register vent tube shape on the octave key. This improves the response in the upper registers; even with low air pressures making it easier for the younger player to play the entire range of the clarinet. The clarinet comes with a newly designed ergonomic thumb rest with strap ring, making this clarinet easily adjusted to suit different sized hands and allowing it to be held without any extra effort.
