The Steuer French Cut Bb clarinet reeds are a Universal cut inspired by German models. The core and tip are thicker than other models giving a full and strong sound. Being slightly thicker also helps with the longevity of the reed. Steuer reeds are most suitable for medium mouthpieces although as every player is different it would be worth testing these reeds even if you don’t have a medium mouthpiece. About Steuer
Steuer was originally established in Germany in the late 1940’s By German reed maker Gebhart Steuer. Together with Honorat Donati, a reed cane producer, they used cane grown in the Var region in Southern France. The type of cane, Arundo donax, is known for its exceptional vibratory qualities. Come the 20th century it made sense for the company to move closer to its reed beds, so you can now find Steuer in Var, right next to the musical reed plantations.
1. On arrival, every Clarinet & Flute is checked & adjusted in-store. This is essential as every instrument requires some attention after its long journey from the factory.
2. Once sold, every Clarinet & Flute is checked & regulated for a second time as the set-up can be affected by the new materials expanding & contracting according to environmental conditions.
3. New instruments purchased from us can be returned within a year for a FREE check over and adjustment.
