Kooiman Etude 3 Clarinet Thumb Rest - Black
From Ton Kooiman, the Kooiman Etude 3 Clarinet Thumb Rest is a lightweight thumb rest made from durable plastics for clarinet or oboe. It has been designed to better position the instrument for optimal weight distribution; freeing the movement of the ring and little fingers whilst preventing fatigue of the thumb and hand. The overall feel of this thumb rest gives you a sense of control and a firm grip on your instrument.
The Etude 3 allows much of the energy that was used in supporting the instrument to become available for handling the instrument, called active playing, the thumb is held higher and is either straight or slightly bent, resulting in a ‘natural and individual’ posture. Once the thumb has made good contact with the thumb casing the thumb rest can be used for improving control and speeding up playing technique.
With a metal hook covered with soft rubber and a casing for strength and comfort. Adjustable height hook and a dovetail slide and mounting slide are some of the ingenious features that go in to making this thumb rest adjustable and customisable for the individual player.
