The Vandoren 5RV Lyre Profile 88 Bb Clarinet Mouthpiece is another of Vandoren's clever variations on a mouthpiece that was created by Robert Van Doren for Jacques Lancelot. This model incorporates the profile 88 beak for added comfort and extra flexibility in your playing position.
The original idea behind the 5RV Lyre was to create a mouthpiece that has a more open tip and a slightly longer facing than the 5RV model. With the longer facing, it makes it possible to play stronger reeds and gain richer tonal qualities. In some cases darker timbres, more volume and greater ease when playing. This coupled with the profile 88 beak allows even more flexibility and the ability to experiment with playing positions which can alter your tonal nuances.
